THE BIRTH OF EAST WEST RURAL BANK, INC.

East West Rural Bank, Inc. formerly known as Finman Rural Bank, Inc., is a domestic corporation registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on November 5, 1997 for the primary purpose of accumulating deposits and granting loans to various individuals and corporate entities as well as government and private employees. It was later granted authority by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to operate as a rural bank hence commencing operations in March 1998. Its principal place of business is located at 360 Dr. Sixto Antonio Avenue, Caniogan, Pasig City.

On July 11, 2012, EastWest Bank acquired 83.17% of the voting shares of the bank, thus making it a subsidiary of EWB. In 2013, EWB acquired additional shares, and all the remaining shares of the non-controlling shareholders of the bank. This increased its ownership to 100%. On May 21, 2013, through the approval granted by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Bank officially changed its corporate name to "East West Rural Bank, Inc."

In May 2013, EastWest Rural Bank entered into an asset purchase agreement and acquired the good assets, selected loan portfolio, branch licenses, as well as assumed the deposits and other liabilities incidental to the branch business and operations of Green Bank, Inc. (GBI). The transfer of these assets and liabilities took effect on October 31, 2013.

On March 13, 2017, the Head Office of the Bank was transferred from Pasig City to 3rd and 4th Floors, EastWest Bank Building, J.P. Laurel Avenue corner Iñigo Street, Bajada, Davao City.
